Getting the Most Out of Your Social Media
0 Comments

The use of social media for a variety of tasks has increased exponentially in recent years because individuals and businesses alike are seeing the value. Not only does being active in social media help your business gain brand recognition, it also gives you the opportunity to put your company in front of more people than you ordinarily would be able to by just creating a website and hoping for the best.

Brand recognition and exposure are not the only benefits of using social media to strengthen your online presence. Search engines like Google have been taking into account how well your website utilizes backlinks in order to rank your site. One of the ways to improve your website ranking on Google is to feature backlinks from your social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, FourSquare, Pinterest and so on.

Another benefit to using social media as a marketing tool is that you can develop a “community” of internet users who espouse your cause, blog, product, or website – and this online “word of mouth” advertising can be invaluable. The community of followers can also provide you with information on what they do and don’t like about your website, business, products, or services, enabling you to tailor your offerings to match what your potential visitors and clients actually want. In essence, it is can be a spontaneous feedback system if executed well.

Social media optimization as a marketing tool is a key factor to be considered when developing a website. The potential for wider exposure and profitability exists if there is a well thought out strategy and the results are tracked consistently.

When you start focusing on social media optimization for your website content, you will want to keep a few things in mind to help you get the most out of the process and reap the greatest return on your efforts. Here are a few tips to help you stay on target:

  • Start a blog and populate it with engaging posts.
  • Be consistent with your brand image and use it appropriately.
  • Develop a social media marketing plan.
  • Optimize your content around search keywords.
  • Use relevant links as much as possible (but don’t over do it!).
  • Employ strong calls to action in your social media content.
  • Earn a reputation as a reliable source or authoritative voice regarding your content.
  • Keep your content flowing; keep it fresh and exciting.
  • Include video, pictures, and audio – mix it up to avoid reading fatigue!
  • Use keywords often, but use them strategically.
  • Encourage social sharing among your viewers.
  • Keep a keen eye on what your competitors are up to.
  • Communicate with your audience and encourage reciprocity.
  • Highlight special features or offerings to bring attention to your business.

The possibilities for social media optimization are numerous, while this is not a comprehensive list, it definitely does touch upon the many ways to refocus your internet marketing strategies or online advertising campaigns to ensure that social media works for you!
