Are You (Still) a Technophobe?

Are you suffering from fear of technology? In this day and age, reluctance to adopt tech tools can seriously hinder your business’s growth potential. Consumers and big businesses alike are embracing tools like smartphones and tablet computers to be more productive. If your business isn’t in step with them, you could get left in the dust.

Consider the latest high-tech darling, the iPad. With the new iPad just released, consumers and businesses are scooping up the latest tablet in droves. Here are some interesting ways entrepreneurs are using tablets in their businesses:

  • Making sales: Salespeople in the field find it easier to whip out an iPad on the go than a bulky laptop to quickly show prospects product information, photos or even a sales presentation. Plus, there’s still an “ooh” factor associated with an iPad that makes customers eager to take a look.
  • Capturing information: Forget the clipboard—you can use iPads to collect customer information in waiting rooms, restaurants, gyms or just about anywhere that your clients need to “check in.” Then you’ve got the data digitized where it can easily be stored, saved and shared.
  • Entertainment: Nail salons, hair salons and restaurants are among the businesses using iPads to entertain customers during down times such as while they’re under the dryer or while waiting for their meals. Instead of getting bored and antsy, customers linger longer and spend more money.
  • Taking orders: Some restaurants are using iPads instead of note pads for servers to take orders. Others are even letting customers place their own orders via iPads at their tables. The devices hold more data than your average menu, so servers can access things like nutritional information and customers can page through mouthwatering photos.

How could you use an iPad in your business? How could smartphones drive more orders for your website? How could upgrading your computers save you time and money? Whether you own a dog grooming shop or a management consulting firm, these are the kinds of questions you need to be asking yourself today. Technology is changing fast, and those who don’t change with it will be left behind.

If you’re not sure how to answer the questions above (or even which questions to ask), no worries: Help is at hand.
