Congratulations to East Central Iowa SCORE, the National SCORE Chapter of the Year. This prestigious award was announced today during National Small Business Week.

The chapter received this honor for its excellence in client satisfaction and exceptional growth in serving entrepreneurs and small businesses. The East Central Iowa SCORE chapter served over 1,200 clients last year, growing its reach by 93%. To support these efforts, they increased the number of experts available to assist SCORE clients by 53%, providing any small business owner or entrepreneur with access to free and confidential advice that he or she needs.

SCORE East Central Iowa works hard to improve their community in every aspect. As a demonstration of their successful community outreach, they created the “Business Long Term Recovery Program (BLTR)”; a new national model for Disaster Recovery and Revitalization. Due to the 2008 flood, coupled with the recent economic decline, small businesses were struggling in the area. With this new program, SCORE volunteers were dedicated to helping turn these businesses around with focused advice and exceptional resources to get back on the path to success.
