Burger King, CNN, FedEx, GE, Hyatt, HP, IHOP, Microsoft, MTV…

What do all these companies have in common?
They all started during economic slumps. A few weeks ago I discussed starting your business in a recession. These companies are proof that it’s possible to not only survive a recession, but position yourself to thrive when the economy improves.

Women_2.0_ContestIf you’re looking for a little help in getting your business off the ground, check out the Pitch 2009: Women 2.0 Startup Competition. According to the Web site, the goal of the organization is to “encourage entrepreneurial women to launch startups and, with feedback from the judging panel of investors and experienced executives, take their businesses to the next level.” What a great concept!
