HR: Effectively Motivate & Redirect Staff

How can you redirect through motivation? When the time comes to redirect an employee (or a 5 year old child), always sandwich the concern with 2 praises. Try this:

“Suzie, I really liked the information in your power point, but I wish you would have run the information past me first as some of it was a duplication of my presentation. Your timing and pace was excellent as no one left or looked distracted.”

Sandwiches work every time, especially in difficult situations. What other tricks have you found effective for redirecting staff?
